Inspire Your Career Growth: Join Our Apprenticeship Program
In the UK business we work with the Apprenticeship Levy, a UK Government sponsored initiative, designed to encourage employers to invest in and enable continued learning.
Sean Conway, the Carousel Supervisor from Kidderminster has recently completed such a journey leading to Level 5 qualification in Operational/Departmental Management.
Knowing that we are approaching the application opening for the 2024/25 programme, Sean has shared his experience below.
My apprenticeship journey was undeniably challenging, but the unwavering support of my managers, colleagues, and tutors ensured I had sufficient time to complete it and feel thoroughly prepared for the assessments. Initially, I found it intimidating to tackle tasks that demanded research and in-depth writing, especially since I had never attended college or university.
However, I had ample support and resources to help me navigate these challenges. Throughout the course, I delved into intriguing theories that I hadn't anticipated finding so fascinating. I explored concepts such as the application of various leadership styles in different scenarios, the multifaceted nature of employee motivation beyond financial incentives, and the critical importance of self-awareness in personal development. A significant advantage of the course was the opportunity to immediately apply what I was learning, thereby reaping the benefits in real-time.
Although the assessments were stressful, achieving a distinction made it all worthwhile. Completing the course and persevering through the difficulties provided me with an immense sense of accomplishment.
A massive congratulations to Sean for not only his commitment to learning but also his grade and if you are inspired by Sean, based in the UK and would like to know more about the courses available, please do check the Government site. The closing date for applications is 30 September 2024 and please complete the form in this link to indicate your interest.

An apprenticeship journey is always filled with challenges and Sean’s experience was no exception, he worked hard throughout and realised that, in an experience like this one, you get out of it exactly what you’re willing to put in.
He demonstrated that with perseverance, determination and support, you can overcome all challenges and achieve great success.
I have been incredibly proud to watch Sean use his learnings in real-life situations, it has had a positive impact on his personal development and DC7 in general. I’m sure he will continue to apply his knowledge and skills to achieve great things at Colart in the future.
