Bringing Colour to Care

Bringing Colour to Care: A Community Day with Hospital Rooms
On Friday , I had the privilege of joining @Alison Wabe@Sharifa Jordan@Viktoria Saplaoura@Palakshi Naha@Veronika Urminska and a dedicated group of external volunteers at Hospital Rooms, an incredible organisation whose mission is to bring creativity, colour, and kindness to mental health hospitals.
Through the Hospital Rooms Digital Art School , their aim is to provide free creative sessions led by world-class artists to support mental health patients. With the support of partners like Colart—who supply the art materials—Hospital Rooms assembles and distributes art boxes to every single mental health unit in the UK. Last year, 750 boxes were sent out. This year, that number rose to an amazing 1,000.
This was a truly hands-on day, and I was proud to help pack these boxes. Each one carried more than just sketchbooks, Winsor & Newton and Liquitex paints, and other materials—it carried the powerful message that someone cares, and that creativity is for everyone.
It was humbling and inspiring to see the products we work with every day take on a deeper purpose. This experience reminded me just how profoundly creativity can connect and heal.
It was also a powerful reminder of what’s possible when companies like ours step beyond business-as-usual and engage in meaningful, community-driven action.
To anyone considering getting involved: do it.
Special thanks to @Ajita Chamberlin for arranging the event and of course my amazing colleagues at the Hub who have taken part.

Just a big THANK YOU from little old me for partnering Hospital Rooms. What an absolutely fantastic and much needed project and charity. I’m a mature art student and was hospitalised many years ago with mental health problems. What a difference some of those stunningly colourful and thought provoking works would have made…โฆ.. Thank-you, W&N, for your involvement
