Simplifying the Performance Review Process
To support Perform 2030, we launched last year a Strategic Forum initiative, enabling the involvement of people across the business to play a key part in moving from strategy to action.
The first strategic forum took place last year and identified the importance of focus on delivering projects related to new channels (Mass) and product categories (Acrylic) before addressing additional growth drivers.
Whilst we are making good progress in answering the where to win strategic question, the how to win question became the focus of the recent Forum which took place in March.
At this Forum, key success factors for Colart to be able to win were discussed including how do we really embed a performance-driven culture performance and foster the right behaviours across individuals and teams.
The Performance Development Review (PDR) was seen as a critical tool for driving this culture and aligning behaviours, but it was felt that we needed to simplify the process….Less is More! Less focus on form filling and more focus on the quality of the dialogue.
This valuable feedback was consistent with the messages we have heard from other stakeholders. We’ve listened—and we’re planning changes for the end of year PDR!
More details will follow shortly on the Full-Year Review and the 360-feedback process but for the mid-year review, we are proposing the following:-
- The timing of the Mid-Year Review to shift to June–July.
- With the focus of the Mid-Year Review on the quality of the conversation between you and your line manager all we’ll ask you to do is “check” the confirmation box in Splash once the review conversation has taken place (in a similar way to the confirmation of your commitment to the Code of Conduct). There will be no other elements to complete in Splash for the mid-year review.
- Guidelines to help you and your line to have meaningful, honest performance conversations will be posted on the Colart intranet in the coming weeks.
Please join the Townhall meeting this week (Wednesday 28 May) when we will talk more about this change.
Thank you for your continued commitment and please feel free to contact your local HR team if you have any questions or need support.
