A Story of Strength, Love, and the Power of Community
At the heart of Colart are the people who bring our values to life every day — through their work, their kindness, and the way they uplift those around them.
Today, we want to share the story of Michelle Green, lovingly known to many of us as “Shel”.
Shel has been part of the Colart family for 16 years, working as Sales Operations at our Kidderminster site. She is a strong and loving mother to a little girl just three and a half years old.
A couple of months ago, Shel received the life-changing news that she had been diagnosed with breast cancer.
But what has truly moved and inspired everyone around her is not just the strength and courage with which she is facing this battle, but the love and care she continues to show — especially in protecting her young daughter from the heaviness of this moment. Even in the face of her own pain, Shel has worked to preserve joy, normality, and light for those she loves.
And what has unfolded around her is nothing short of beautiful.
Shel’s colleagues have shown what true support looks like — going far beyond words, they have turned difficult days into ones filled with laughter, warmth, and care. This kindness has become its own form of healing — a second treatment made of compassion.
We also want to acknowledge the incredible speed and dedication of the NHS, whose prompt action has made a vital difference in Shel’s journey.
Remarkably, Shel has continued working between treatment sessions — not just for routine or distraction, but to focus her mind and spirit on something other than her diagnosis. Her courage in staying connected with her team has been inspiring, and in return, what she has received is an outpouring of love — the kind of support that words alone can’t capture.
One moment that touched everyone deeply was when Shel shared with a colleague how difficult it was to lose her hair. What could have been a painful conversation turned into one filled with laughter and solidarity. In a beautiful act of support, colleagues began using an app to see themselves bald — turning fear into empathy, and empathy into unity.
That spirit of giving didn’t stop there.
A colleague suggested raising funds to help Shel purchase a wig and support her in other small but meaningful ways. What no one expected was the overwhelming response. The love and generosity that poured in from across the company were more than anyone could have dreamed — not just donations, but heartfelt messages, encouragement, and hope.
One colleague said it best: “If there’s one thing Shel should take from all of this, it’s that she is truly loved and cared for by everyone here.”
A heartfelt thank-you to every single person who made this possible — your kindness and generosity are a powerful reminder of what community truly means. You’ve helped turn a moment of hardship into one of hope.
This moment reminds us of the kind of workplace we’re part of — one that combines professional excellence with genuine human care. Colart is proud to stand beside Shel, not just as an employer, but as a community. And that community is made stronger every time we show up for one another like this.
💗 Let’s continue to surround Shel with our positive thoughts, kindness, and hope.
Her story is still being written — and with all of us beside her, we believe it will have a very happy ending.
“Please take a moment to see the lovely photo of Shel with her beautiful new wig — a symbol not just of strength, but of how love truly transforms. To show the community spirit that represents Colart, leave your positive message for her!”

The unwavering support Shel is receiving from her colleagues, both near and far, is truly overwhelming. She is being open and sharing her experience, which in turn enables us to support her as much as is humanly possible.
