General Data Protection Regulation

January 11, 2019 | |

Dear colleagues,

One of the hot topics for 2018 was the implementation of the of General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

WHAT IS IT ALL ABOUT?

The GDPR is legislation from the European Commission with a goal to strengthen data protection for individuals within the European Union in terms of how their data is processed and used.

WHO IS IT FOR?

GDPR applies to anyone collecting, processing or storing any type of personal data. This can include all personal data held for customers; suppliers; website subscribers; consumers or charities etc. Back in June, we communicated a survival kit for the business side of Colart (B2C).

WHAT ABOUT PEOPLE IN COLART?

GDPR is applicable to our people in terms of the information that we hold for employment purposes. Plus, whilst GDPR is grounded in Europe, its scope means that it is applicable across the whole of Colart.

WHAT IS COLART GOING TO DO?

We are planning to send everyone a detailed letter explaining the impact of GDPR on you as employees. This letter will be sent out at the end of January via Splash, or for those of you without direct access, you will receive a hard copy via your local People team.
You will be asked to read and acknowledge receipt of this letter and of course the People team will be on hand to answer any questions to support your understanding.

Of course, should you have any questions in the meantime please contact your local HR BP.

Best regards,

Chief People Officer
