Charity project

Liquitex has once again participated in this new edition of Art Madrid, an important Spanish contemporary art fair, as collaborator for a very special project: #SomosKanva.

Liquitex collaborated with the #SomosKanva project since the very beginning by donating painting materials for [Kanva] during their visit to India, especially for activities at the School “María Soliña” giving them the possibility to paint murals and organizing art workshops with children”.

The project first started like this, with 3 artists from [Kanva] visiting the school with Liquitex materials painting murals and giving them some painting workshops and now we want to go further and try to make a fundraising through artists for the school with the help of Art Madrid.

Led by three non-profit organisations: [Kanva], an International aid network that works through artistic creations, Shanga India, a charity who schools children from poor families in India, and Un Plato de Comida, whose purpose is to provide the necessary meals at a school in India, the project’s main goal is to improve the vital needs of education for children living a poverty situation, marginality or abandonment in the rural Orissa area, India.

The three organizations, together with Liquitex and Art Madrid created an artistic challenge that will be followed with an online exhibition at the Art Madrid Market. The entire donation of sales will be given to the NGO Un Plato de Comida.

All artists who want to support this can participate in the project the best way they can: through art. The first step of the challenge is to select or create a piece of work for the project; and then to publish this work in social networks with the hashtags #Somoskanva and #Liquitex, this way sharing the project with their followers.

The challenge is opened from 4th February to March 10th. Afterwards, a team of specialists from Art Madrid will proceed to select 15 works by March 17th for the online exhibition at the Art Madrid Market. This exhibition will be held from 18th March to 18th April, and the works will be sold (under contract with the artist). All proceeds from the sale will be given to the NGO Un Plato de comida. In addition, Liquitex will select one of these fifteen works and will reward its author with 500 euros in supplies.

National and international artists such as Carla Fuentes, Thomas Cian, Anwei and Julio Linares have united with this cause recently, creating and donating works that were later presented in a charity exhibition that raised over 6,000 euros entirely allocated to the three NGOs.
