During the kick-off week of the Benelux Winsor & Newton Water Colour Campaign, The Fine Art Collective BNL delivered a seminar at museum CODA, one of our local partners.
Students from various top 10 Art Universities from all over the Netherlands visited the clinic and were given the opportunity to learn from artist Bettina van Haaren. Bettina gave explanations about her work, concepts and approach on art materials during a tour of her current exhibition at CODA. Afterwards there was a workshop about Professional Watercolour delivered by herself and Resident Artist Robert Rost. The workshop covered Bettina’s approach and an explanation of the use of W&N Professional Watercolour by Robert.
Bettina van Haaren, born in 1961 in Germany, has realised over 80 solo exhibitions and has participated in more than 130 group exhibitions in Europe, America, China and New Zealand. However, her works had not yet been exhibited in the Netherlands. After CODA Museum, the exhibition will travel to Kloster Bentlage and Städtische Galerie Neunkirchen. In Germany, Bettina van Haaren is known not only as an artist but also as a lecturer. She has been working as a professor of drawing and printing at the University of Dortmund since 2000. This position allows her to remain autonomous and independent as a visual artist.
After this tour, all students participated in a workshop about Winsor & Newton Professional Water Colour, co-delivered by Bettina van Haaren and our Resident Artist Robert Rost. With the input of Bettina and a hands-on session by Robert the students were able to try out our extra fine-quality paint for themselves. Bettina brought many personal objects from her studio to get inspiration from. Her extraordinary personality and artistic approach made a great impact on the students and left them with an unforgettable learning experience, for which all expressed their enthusiasm and gratitude.
This event was very well received by both the students and participating Art Universities, they all very much appreciated this unique offer. Museum CODA also shared their enthusiasm.
This seminar is part of a series of TFAC workshops offered to a selected group of promising students in Benelux. They are made up of an exhibition, a focus on a specific material and teachings from a professional artist. It is a great way to engage all our Art Universities with our program through a single event and align TFAC, Brands, Partnership and artists with our activities.
