Our partner in Ecuador, Sbandra, has recently shared with us a beautiful story from year 2000. Sbandra will soon be celebrating their anniversary and this story will be featuring in one of the national Ecuadorian newspapers.

“In 1998 (…) the Winsor & Newton Company (English brand of art materials represented in Ecuador by Sbandra) decided to organize a competition called Our world in year 2000. Ecuador agreed to participate in the contest. At the end of the deadline we received the participation of 180 Ecuadorian artists (…)”
This competition was the start of an incredible journey for Ramón that led him to meet Prince Charles, be exhibited at the United Nations in New York, and more!

As an “oldie” I had the great fortune to meet Ramon and hear about his wonderful story of how he was self taught (truly unbelievable) and used to canoe down the amazon every few months to meet his art material supplier (who apparently travelled up to meet him half way!).
The painting itself is an inspiration – wonderfully deep in perspective as you eyes travel through the forest and it carries for ever the real love that Ramon has for his home.
