Art classes for your children

January 8, 2021 | | | 10 comments

Dear all,

Knowing that many of you across the group are facing the great challenge of home-schooled children, I mentioned in the COVID update on 5 January about the potential of running a calendar of free art events for children via Zoom.  I am really pleased to say that, with the help of the Elephant team, it looks like this will be happening!

Planned agenda…

To get the programme off the ground we will be running classes on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday this week according to the following schedule (all hours are GMT):

• 10 :00 to 10 :45 – 4 to 6 year olds

• 11 :00 to 11 :45 – 7 to 10 year olds

• 13 :00 to 13 :45 – 11 to 15 year olds

• 14 :00 to 14 :45 – 4 to 6 year olds

• 15 :00 to 15 :45 – 7 to 10 year olds

• 16 :00 to 16 :45 – 11 to 15 year olds

The schedule is designed to work from the US to Europe and will be the same for each day.  We will test how these age groups work and whilst knowing the teacher will be aligning the class to the majority age group, your children are welcome to join any session.  Of course, parents can join too!

Subject to the success of this week and the feedback we receive, we will review the schedule for the following weeks.

Please bear in mind that at the moment we can’t host more than 100 attendees per class.

Art materials for the classes…

Knowing that there is not much notice until the start of the classes next week, we have asked the teacher to keep things simple.  Only basic materials that you should have around the house will be needed.

Going forward we will be preparing art material bundles organised by age group that you can purchase directly from Elephant Kiosk.  The classes will be designed around these prescribed bundles.  As further support, we will retain the 70% discount on your purchases for the duration of these classes and details are to follow shortly.

Meeting the teacher…

We are really pleased to have artist Emmely Elgersma on board.  With her existing online teaching experience of all age groups, we are confident she will bring enthusiasm and ideas to the classes to keep your children engaged and focused.

I look forward to seeing how these sessions work and we really hope that they provide some support to you.   If you have any questions or suggestions please do not hesitate in contacting me and we will, of course, seek feedback throughout the week.

Best regards,

Jane Beeston

Chief People Officer

    • the sessions will be accessible via Zoom so an external email address should be fine. Subject to how the sessions work, we will look to extend to friends and family and beyond!
Let us know if you have any problems accessing.

  1. Just wanted to update on todays (what transpired to be a 1-1 session) for Edith with Emmely. Edith is having a great time being creative, feels very comfortable with Emmely (who she says is “lovely”) and comes away very happy. Thank you to the Elephant team for organising a brilliant initiative.
