Celebrating Lateral Career Development at Colart

March 16, 2023 | | | 1 comment

Our structure is flat and non-hierarchical and because we embrace change, this means we don’t offer a one size fits all career path. Instead, we encourage lateral movements to help you follow your ambitions, hone a skill set and achieve future goals.

So, what does lateral career growth actually mean?  Instead of telling you about it, why not read about it below, in the lateral career journeys of Cathy Peng and Hayley Griffiths.

We are pleased to confirm the appointment of Cathy Peng as Group Operations Finance Director, partnering with Dominique Murzeau and Bruno Lebourdais. Cathy is currently the Finance Director for CTAM, a role she has held for over four years reporting to Jonathan Spight, CFO – a reporting line that will continue.

Jonathan says “I am really pleased to see Cathy’s progression in Colart and this appointment really helps to underpin the global approach to operations”.

To facilitate her role, Cathy has developed the CTAM finance team to share her current responsibilities in order to provide continuous support to the CTAM business. Cathy will continue for the time being to be based in Tianjin, making frequent extended visits to Le Mans and will operate from Tianjin on European working hours on 2-3 days per week. Within her role Cathy will have overall responsibility for finance aspects and (over time) local finance teams in all 4 manufacturing sites and the Le Mans warehouse, in addition to being responsible, alongside Bruno, for global inventory.

Cathy says “I am really glad to take this new challenge and looking forward to working with more great people to reach our maximum potential.”

We wish Cathy every success in her new role.

Jonathan Spight
Chief Financial Officer

We are pleased to confirm the appointment of Hayley Griffiths as Consumer Care Specialist, working within this global team and reporting into Stefano Maiorana, Senior Strategist, Consumer Care. Hayley previously worked as a warehouse administrator, reporting to the warehouse manager, Frances Holden.

Frances says, "Hayley has been an integral part of the team at Kidderminster since 1993, initially as a press operator at Oasis Arts and Craft Products where she formed paint tins and hand-pressed nibs for scraper foil kits. In 1999, the company was acquired by Colart, and Hayley moved to the warehouse department where she worked her way up to Team Leader. After going on maternity leave in 2009, she transferred to SIOP and worked alongside Liz Ford for two years to develop customer service knowledge. In 2011, she was promoted to Charge Hand in Goods Inward, where she obtained a forklift license. Throughout her tenure, she has continually demonstrated her commitment to the team and the company, and in 2017, she became a Warehouse Administrator supporting transport requirements while passing her IOSH for H&S. We've all loved working with Hayley and want to wish her the very best in her new role, which we're sure she will excel at".

Stefano says, "The Consumer Care Team is delighted and proud to welcome Hayley. As a Consumer Care Specialist, she will be on the front line, assisting the consumers who contact us through our websites and social media pages. I am confident that Hayley's knowledge of the company will prove valuable in her new role. I would also like to express my gratitude to Frances and Shane for their assistance in making this transition possible".

Stefano Maiorana, Senior Strategist, Consumer Care & Frances Holden, Warehouse Manager.

  1. These are two wonderful examples of people continuing to learn and grow at Colart through venturing to new opportunities. This is especially important as both opportunities have not been limited by geographic location.
I wish Cathy and Hayley every success and enjoyment in their new roles.
