Colart Supports Ukraine
A message from Dennis
As an organisation, we are deeply shocked and saddened by the situation unfolding in Ukraine, and we, like many companies, join the call for peace. In the meantime, seeing the suffering of the Ukrainian people, we recognise the need to rethink our position with respect to Russia.
In line with the unified condemnation across the world and resulting economic sanctions, we have therefore taken the decision to suspend our business with Russia. This decision will mean the following actions will temporarily cease:-
- Fulfilment of future orders placed by our distributor in Russia.
- Sourcing of raw materials from Russia, including Kolinsky Sable hair. We will, however, continue to use the hair that we have in stock for the manufacture of our Kolinsky Sable brush ranges.
We will also investigate Russian and Ukrainian dependencies in our second-tier supplier base, and as the conflict unfolds, we will closely monitor business continuity. We anticipate the continuing unprecedented times of uncertainties.
One of our commitments is to create an environment based on respect and collaboration. We ask everyone to refrain from stigmatising or excluding individuals based on their country of origin. Leading and acting with compassion will allow us to remain united rather than cause further divisions. We should promote communication and the value of connection as we continue our mission to be a sustainable home of leading creative brands.
Art enables free expression, and whilst we know our actions will impact artists who use our brands in Russia, we have made this difficult decision because we share the voice that stands with the people of Ukraine and the call for peace.
Kind regards,
Dennis van Schie
