Employee Engagement Survey Results for 2023
Thanks to everyone who took part in this year's employee engagement survey. We've collected the results and put together a summary which can be viewed through the five visuals and accompanying explanations later in this article. A reminder that the survey focuses on:
- Our People Culture
- Our Leadership Culture
- Our performance & service culture including our commitment to performance & development (progress review %)
- Our community culture through diversity, equity and inclusion
- Our Commitment to Sustainability
We also included five demographic questions to help us understand the results better. We have also launched a new platform through Power BI.. This tool lets line managers access data specific to their teams and promotes open discussions. It helps us take ownership of areas that need improvement.
Jane and Gareth sat down to discuss why we conduct this survey and how we're using the data, including the launch of the new platform. To hear what they have to say, click on the video below.
Thanks for your participation in making our workplace better. Let's keep working together to make positive changes.
Best regards,
Jane Beeston
Chief People Officer

What is NPS?
Employee Net Promoter Score is a method built around the Net Promoter Score to measure employee loyalty. Amongst other things, it measures how willing employees are to recommend their workplace to their family or friends. We ask this across five key engagement questions to ensure we truly understand employee sentiment.
Promotors, Passives, Detractors
In simple terms
Promoters: The most satisfied employees, happy and motivated
Passives: These employees are content enough, but not passionate about the business
Detractors: Dissatisfied employees who wouldn’t recommend the company
With a basic understanding of NPS and Promotors, Passives and Detractors, you can now view this table that breaks the results down in more detail.
For clarity:
- the sad face is a detractor
- the straight lipped faced is a passive
- the happy face is a promotor.
