Gift Giving and Accepting

Offers of gifts, entertainment and hospitality can show good will in business, especially at this time of the year. It’s up to each of us to know when an offer crosses the line into something inappropriate.
Use care with gifts, entertainment and hospitality and follow our Code of Conduct carefully.
If you’re unsure if an offer is acceptable, reach out to your line manager or HR.
Take Action.
- Read what is acceptable and what is not acceptable in the lists below.
- Watch the video created by our partners Navex (Ethics Point) for a more detailed overview on gifting.
What’s acceptable:
- Offers that are legitimate, unsolicited, appropriate, legal and below the applicable group reporting thresholds*.
- Received gifts and hospitality should be recorded in the central gifts and hospitality register and ideally offered up for a central Business Unit charity raffle.
What is not acceptable
- Anything of value, above the threshold*, without prior approval.
- Any offer that creates an obligation or appears to influence someone’s decision-making.
- Facilitation payments (a payment made to speed up, or queue jump, the process of a task)
*Group Reporting Thresholds are determined as "above the threshold" and "below the threshold". These values vary depending on your company entity (e.g. CHIL, Colart Amercias). Please check with your manager for full details.
