Artist Kelly Anna’s Flashe-y Mural for our Le Mans site & Lefranc Bourgeois

Particularly in these uncertain times, we all need some colour and art! In the week before French confinement, British Artist Kelly Anna was in Le Mans to paint a giant mural with our Lefranc Bourgeois Flashe paint.

You’ll surely remember Kelly from her Colart Loved By film and LB Flashe campagne.

As part of Lefranc Bourgeois’ 300 years celebration, Kelly created a figurative artwork inspired by past and present. Entitled “Dancing through colours,” Kelly says,  “I imagine myself as one of my figures dancing through the factory amongst all the colours and vibrancy. The textures are representative of the brush strokes and the fluidity of movement is a reference to the smoothness of the Flashe paints I use.”

Eight, “120 figure” linen canvases were strung together to create an 8-meter long fresco, ready to be hung in the heart of our factory, to inspire our production teams and tell the story of collaborations between artists and LB for the next 300 years to come.

Members of the French Creative Community Engagement Team (Caitlin Elizabeth Boucher & Laurent Blandin) and two artist assistants lent Kelly a hand to paint the giant, velvety-smooth, flat tints.

See the LB tutorial video inspired by Kelly’s creation here, and her Instagram video post showing it in action on the Le Mans piece.

Over the four days of creation, Colart Le Mans employees came to check out the mural’s progress and see our paints in action. For many, it was the first time they saw an artist creating with the paint they helped to produce, a moment of pride and discovery.
