Launch of Colart Growth Lab
We are happy to update you on the launch of the Colart Growth Lab, an exciting new initiative aimed at empowering you to drive innovation and lead change from within Colart.
This program expands upon the principles of the existing Lateral Growth Platform, allowing individuals to get involved in cross-functional projects. The added value of the Growth Lab is that it provides a structured path to transform your ideas into impactful actions, supporting both personal development and Colart’s strategic objectives.
More than just a suggestion box
The Growth Lab is an active program that invites you to take ownership of your ideas. With the submission of your idea, subject to it passing the first gate, you will have the opportunity to be mentored, collaborate with other teams, and gain valuable experience in project ownership, leadership, and strategic thinking. This gate will be reviewed by your line manager to ensure the idea aligns with our business objectives. Value, cost, and potential impact are also important factors to be considered to effectively convey feasibility and strategic fit.

How the Growth Lab will work
- Idea submission: You submit your idea in Splash completing the form with all requested details:
- Step one: find go to the Objectives page in Splash
- Step two: complete all the relevant details to support your idea – please note that you should record the idea as NO as it is not linked to the STIP:
- Step three: select “Growth Lab idea” as the category in the drop-down list
- Step five: if you are clear on who would be the right person to mentor you as part of your idea development, add them in the Manage Visibility section:
If you are not clear about the right mentor, make this a discussion point with your line manager
- Step four: either save your drafted idea if you need to reflect more or submit it for your line manager’s review:
- Line manager review: Your line manager will receive a notification of your idea and will then take the time to review it with you. This ensures:-
- You have the time available to progress the idea
- The progression of the idea creates value for both you and Colart.
- Idea progression: Once authorised by your line manager, your line manager will finalise expectations for the mentor assigned.
- Idea tracking: The progress of your idea will be monitored alongside your Performance and Objectives review in Splash to ensure your project contributions are reflected in your personal development.
This integrated way of working ensures that the Growth Lab’s workflows (idea submission, manager approval, milestones, status updates, outcomes) are part of the broader performance culture.
Timing and launch
The Growth Lab is now live with the new Splash PDR update. We will confirm how to submit ideas during our PDR refresher workshops and we will share more resources to support the initiative with examples and some answered questions.
What you can do now
If you have an idea, you can start shaping and discussing it with your line manager. Think about an idea that adds value to Colart could also shape the skills you want to build and how a project could support these objectives.
This announcement marks the beginning of an exciting journey with the Growth Lab.
