At the end of February, Liquitex Spain collaborated with the fifteenth edition of Art Madrid Contemporary Fair.
Part of Madrid Contemporary Art Week, the fair brings together around 50 galleries from across the globe to show the best in painting, sculpture, graphic art, photography and video art from the 20th century onwards. Over the week we initiated and took part in a range of activities to reach different participants in the event, all celebrating Liquitex’s 65th year.
New acrylic formats, new creative possibilities
As part of the fair, Liquitex and The Fine Art Collective collaborated with Artediez art school, to provide a free masterclass run by Miguel Torrus, our resident artist in Spain. 50 attendees had the chance to explore the creative possibilities of acrylics, with a particular focus on intermixing our inks, spray paints, markers and mediums to create contrasting effects.
Artediez school is a public centre in Madrid that hold a big tradition on teaching visual arts and design and all its variations (graphic, interior, industrial and fashion design)
Artediez school mural with Liquitex products
Following the masterclass and the collaboration with the art school, one of the students created a mural in the Artediez school entrance hall using Liquitex materials provided by The Fine Art Collective.
Yorokobu magazine
While the fair was happening, Liquitex also collaborated with the well-known creative magazine Yorokobu and the artist Chefo Bravo. Liquitex provided the tools for the live creation of a wooden sculpture.
Artist prize
A special Liquitex art competition was also created for the art fair. Participants were required to use acrylic paint as their main medium and the winner was Elena Rato, of Arancha Osoro Gallery who took home the 1500€ prize.
Create without borders
All the activities were run as part of Liquitex Spain’s 65th anniversary campaign, using the slogan that the brand used when it was born in 1955, “Create without borders”.
