Liquitex’s Just Imagine Residency program offers artists the unique opportunity to experiment, explore and discover within their own private studio space. Nestled in Manufacturer’s Village in East Orange, NJ, the Liquitex Studio shares a community with over 50 creative makers in a truly immersive environment.
Our first residency artist, Mark Zubrovich officially began his residency. Throughout his time in the Liquitex studio, Mark will be diving deeper into his practice using mediums, Acrylic Ink, and Heavy Body to explore new textures and techniques.
His practice features anthropomorphic dogs, demonstrating the fuzziness and texture of the animals through detailed brushwork and through the tooth of the canvas.
"I'll experiment with Liquitex's modeling gels to bring a thickness, bordering on full-on relief, to the work,” Mark said. “Ultimately, I plan on completing several small to medium size exploratory works pushing these materials to their limits, and at least two large-scale paintings incorporating these fleshed out techniques. I aim to achieve a body of work that the viewer will feel an unquenchable desire to touch and pet.”
Following Mark’s residency, Liquitex will be hosting its first ever student residency, providing an opportunity for a college art student to thrive in their own studio space stocked with Liquitex materials. The brand is excited to offer mentorship opportunities to an emerging artist.
