Together for West Somerset appeal

As many of you may be aware, last week (17th July) there was a devastating coach crash involving children from our local middle school in Minehead. The children were returning from a school trip to Exmoor Zoo at the time. Sadly, 1 child lost his life that day and 2 children remain in hospital in Bristol.
This has shaken many of us here at Snazaroo as this is our local community and many of us know children or adults affected. The journey to recovery, both physically and emotionally for the children, staff and their families will be a long one. Like many members of the community, we have placed flowers at the school gates to show our thoughts are with those involved.
We have now been approached by the charity Somerset Community Foundation who have launched ‘Together for West Somerset Appeal’. The Appeal is open to individuals, businesses, charitable trusts and statutory partners who would like to donate and show their support.
The immediate focus of the appeal is to provide swift, direct support to those who have been directly affected by this tragic incident. Longer term, the plan is to support:
- individuals experiencing psychological distress, injury or hardship
- children and staff from Minehead Middle School
- people in the wider community affected by the events
- local organisations providing emotional wellbeing, practical support and coordination in the response.
Given that Snazaroo is a business which has deep roots within this West Somerset community, we wanted to reach out to our larger Colart family to see if anyone would like to donate to this appeal.
The Appeal will be managed with guidance from Somerset Council, Somerset NHS, local schools, the National Emergencies Trust, the Fundraising Regulator and The Charity Commission.
Donations to the Appeal can be made using the following link.
