Town Hall Meeting – International Women’s Day

March 7, 2022 | |

On Friday, 4th March, we held our regular Town Hall Meeting hosted by CEO Dennis van Schie. We also invited three special guests to mark the celebration of International Women’s Day on Tuesday 8th March.

Dennis recommended two books following his passion for reading and in line with the previous THM. The first on; Trans: when ideology meets reality by Helen Joyce. The book is a searing analysis of an ideological shift that has profoundly influenced many institutions. The second book directly relates to Winsor & Newton, Watercolor for the Soul by Sharone Steven, who curiously and unprompted display our W&N paint tubes on the front cover.

Regarding COVID, as always, Dennis reminded us of our responsibility to protect our colleagues and stay at home if you tested positive or had any symptoms.

Talking about business, Dennis announced important news. We have moved from one crisis to another, and we all feel deeply shocked and saddened about the situation in Ukraine. Therefore, in line with the unified condemnation worldwide and resulting economic sanctions, Colart will suspend our business with Russia. You can read the announcement here.

He also mentioned a slow start to the year and the few challenges we face with increasing input costs.

Marking International Women’s Day on Tuesday 8th March, and a DEI council initiative, we hosted two women artists. Former Liquitex Residency artist Mekia Machine and Elephant Academy Tutor Laxmi Hussain, Elephant magazine Editor, Emily Steer interviewer.

The group discussed bias, stereotypes, discrimination, inclusivity and equality, with a specific reference to the art industry.

This Town Hall Meeting was the perfect example of Colart’s vision, inspiring every artist in the world.
