Celebrating Artistic Journeys Across the Globe

In an inspiring collaboration, Winsor & Newton has partnered with Paul Smith’s Foundation to launch the International Art Prize 2024, an exciting new opportunity for emerging artists specialising in painting and drawing. This prize is not just about recognition; it’s about fostering connections, nurturing creative growth, and celebrating the boundless nature of artistic inspiration.

A Global Stage for Emerging Talent

The International Art Prize debuted simultaneously in Tokyo, Hong Kong, London, Paris, New York, and Los Angeles, selecting one outstanding artist from each city through a free-to-enter Open Call. Each winner was chosen by a respected local industry expert with the networks and insight to support the artist’s professional development.

Empowering Creativity

The winning artists received up to £1,000 worth of materials from Winsor & Newton and an additional £1,000 from Paul Smith’s Foundation to create a new, original artwork. Each piece was crafted around the theme, “Finding Inspiration Everywhere,” reflecting the artists’ unique perspectives and creative journeys. The completed works were then exhibited for sale in Paul Smith stores in each respective city, offering these talented individuals an unparalleled platform to showcase their art to international audiences.”

‘With Artists’: A Short Film Highlighting Artistic Journeys

To capture the essence of this global initiative, Winsor & Newton and Paul Smith’s Foundation produced a compelling short film titled ‘With Artists’. Narrated by Sir Paul Smith himself, the film follows the journeys of the six winning artists as they bring their commissioned pieces to life. It beautifully illustrates how art transcends boundaries, both physical and metaphorical, and how inspiration can be discovered in the most unexpected places.
