Winsor & Newton – flesh tint

Dear all,

Following the ongoing “Black Lives Matter movement”, as a company, we have reflected how we can make a positive change in our industry. While “Flesh Tint” is a historical colour name, this is not a part of our history that we will be carrying forward.

We have decided with immediate effect to stop the production of all colours that carry the “Flesh Tint” name in all the different Winsor & Newton ranges, as well as the delivery to retailers from our distribution centres.

The colour will remain in our product portfolio, but we will be changing the colour name to “Pale Rose Blush”. We are working on making the same paint with the new colour name available for August 1st at the latest.

In addition, we are also reconsidering the colour makeup of our current Winsor & Newton Promarker skin tone sets and will launch a more inclusive range of colours next year.

Please note that we also have colours named “Indian Red” and “Chinese White” in our portfolio. These colours are named for their country of origin, and there are currently no plans to change the colour names. We will, however, continue to review all product and colour names to ensure we remain inclusive at all times.

As a company, we are committed to be a positive force for change, and we are continuing to identify actions we can take to eradicate injustice, racism and inequality from our business and industry as a whole.

We have set up a similar communication for customers and Social/Consumer Care.
