The What
This is linked to Ajita's idea of having a 1 hour break daily for wellbeing and lunch.
I was chatting to relative of mine who works in a bank. She said they have introduced a compulsory 30 min Wellbeing slot every Friday. The line manager literally checks to see if team members have logged off for 30 mins. She said it has actually encouraged her to exercise.
If we say this a global Colart initiative and it becomes part of our rhythm it will be followed and I am sure all remote workers will appreciate it.
The Why
Many remote workers feel the need to be 'always on' and by making this compulsory will show Colart's commitment to Wellbeing of our employees.
Most remote workers are working beyond their contractual hours at the moment so there will be minimal loss of productivity. If anything, we would gain productivity by having a refreshed employee who may even become more healthier through increased exercise or other wellbeing activity.
The How
See if IT can cut access to emails so it can be enforced.
If not we communicate and simply action with guidelines for Line Managers on the role they play.
I think this is a great idea Harsa and a good way to counteract the challenge for a global company presented by trying to have an aligned lunch break each day.
I like the idea, even though as a Dutchy I am sensitive to things “I have to do” (did anyone mention curfew?).
I also think it could be a good starting point to review and discuss what a “job well done” means. Is it about “working your hours” or do we want to measure something else?
Like the idea Harsa!
Lovely idea Harsa, all for it, though most of the Kidderminster site have already finished for the day by 2pm on a Friday so there’s only a couple of us that would benefit at this time.
