Definition of a project
At Colart, a project is defined by meeting three or more of the following criteria:
- An activity that is outside of day-to-day (BAU) delivery.
- Is validating or building or modifying an asset, product, capability or infrastructure within the business.
- Takes more than 10 person-days of effort.
- Requires cross-functional collaboration outside of your immediate team.
- Has specific objectives and deliverables.
- Is an activity that involves risk or uncertainty.

Essential steps for the success of any project
These are general steps which are applicable to all types of projects
Project definition
- Define what the project intentions are, the requirements, and their priority
- Define the project team, the stakeholders, and ensure they understand their roles
- Estimate the budget required
- Decide the time-period that the project has to be delivered by
- Decide who is responsible for defining how the solution will be delivered
