Mental Health Awareness Week Has Begun
For nearly 70% of people, their manager has a greater impact on their mental health than their therapist or doctor’This statistic jumped out at me while recently completing the Mental Health First Aider course for the London hub.
Similar to a physical first aider, I am now qualified to confidentially support, and if needed, direct to more professional mental health services.
Why is it important? With 1 in 4 experiencing poor mental health each year, there is still so much stigma around and professional support isn’t always available straight away. One main outtake for me from the course that I can apply today is to be more of an active listener and proactively check in on people around me.
Helpful resources at Colart include Help@hand 24/7 confidential support service at no cost through a third party - visit the Wellbeing page for more information.

In 2022, I also completed my NCFE Level 2 certificate in understanding Mental Health. It’s amazing to see Colart continue to support mental health in the workplace. Let’s make a difference. Congratualtions Jean
