This August, as every month, the artists’ studios situated on the 4th floor of our building in London are busy with promising works!
Focus on the Lefranc Bourgeois Residents in London this month
Lefranc Bourgeois, our French brand busy preparing the celebrations for its 300th anniversary next year, has organised a double residency, sending two French artists to London.
Paul Moragues and Enzo Certa graduated from the Fine Arts School of Paris (ENSBA / Beaux-arts) this June and were recommended by their advising professors to The Fine Art Collective Head Office residency programme. Lefranc Bourgeois has a longstanding partnership with the respected arts institution, who was very happy to renew the residency opportunity for its students and graduates, following the participation of artists Jean-Charles Bureau and Claire Nicolet in 2016. Applicants were asked to apply for the residency, share with the French team why the residency would benefit both their career and our brand, and what they hope to achieve during this month-long, immersive experience.
Who are the two LB residents?
The two selected artists are:
• Paul Moragues
Paul’s residency project is mixed media, involving printmaking and painting in a technique called off-set. He is working with both Lefranc Bourgeois and Charbonnel products. Paul was recommended by Wernher Boewens and participated in the Charbonnel-Lefranc Bourgeois monotype workshop at the Beaux-Arts Paris earlier this year, which motivated his application to the residency.
Paul says “My inspiration comes from my own environment (…) these images and paintings are extracts of my own life and of my family and friends, taken and received though my phone. (…) By gathering these lights, reflects and colours that we receive from our computers, I want to extract and preserve these fractures into the final artwork”.

• Enzo Certa
Enzo is working with Lefranc Bourgeois’ oil paint range. You might already know Enzo from his involvement in LB’s 2018 mediums campaign. One of Enzo’s pieces can also be seen in the Lefranc meeting room in Le Mans. Enzo was highly recommended by his mentor, Artist Tim Eitel, and participated in the Lefranc Bourgeois oil paint workshop earlier this year in the Beaux-arts Paris Old Masters Art Collection.
Enzo says “My practice is about the painter’s frustration in front of paintings, its history, the space it has today and maybe its exhaustion. Starting with large panels of historical paintings, I built up a universe that includes the camp, queer and kitsch universes, with some irony. This is where I am today, exploring and playing with art.”

What have Paul and Enzo created so far?
Here are a few pictures of what they have done since their arrival in London… And if you happen to be in London on Thursday 29th August, they will be holding their Open Studio from 6pm to 8pm!
