On Friday 26th October, we held the fortnightly Town Hall meeting hosted by CEO Dennis van Schie.
Dennis hosted the THM from “Paynes Grey”, the name of one of the meeting rooms in the London Hub. To celebrate Halloween, he had a spooky image painted on his face using Snazaroo products.
INSPIRATION
He started his inspiration session admitting to struggling to read Dominion, which he had spoken about in a previous THM. Putting the book aside, he has reverted to an “easy read” by one of his favourite Dutch authors. His second book of inspiration was thanks to Claire van Blerck, Agile Project Manager. She recommended he read the ebook “Sustainable Web Design” by Tom Greenwood. Inspired by a past career in coding, this ebook writes about a practical path to faster, more carbon-efficient websites that are not only better for the planet but better for our users.
COVID UPDATE
The COVID-19 update revealed no positive cases and only a few contact cases. However, he reminded us of our “people-first mantra” as a priority and caring for one another. Additionally, Dennis mentioned a possible trip to America next year, stressing that while it’s exciting to see the return of business travel, Colart will do this with a conscious difference in our company-wide sustainability efforts.
BUSINESS UPDATE
Sales-wise, the company fell slightly short of the FC2 budget for October. Our service levels are marginally better but still not on target and continue to be one of our significant challenges. The Crown factory at Lowestoft celebrated its biggest month since 2014 in output and sales. Dennis mentioned two initiatives in play coming from the Innovation Board. The first one is project Meccano, similar to project Lego (more communications to follow), and the second is the launch of a new range of canvas made out of recycled bottles.
OUR GUESTS
To celebrate Halloween properly, our guests included Gaelle Carbonneil, UK Marketing Director and Global Brand Director for Snazaroo and Francheska Liberman, Communications Manager – Snazaroo Global Marketing. They presented a wealth of information representing the significant work in campaigns and activations that have reignited our Snazaroo brand for their Halloween Campaign. This has resulted in an outstanding jump in sales, seeing a 47% increase compared to 2020.
