On Friday 22nd May, we held the fortnightly Town Hall meeting hosted by CEO Dennis van Schie.

Dennis started the session by sharing his recent inspiration, a podcast on Spotify, Science VS, the podcast deals with urban myths that are dropped in the media. He further highlighted the importance of reconnecting with colleagues like he did last week with two board members.

Guests at this week’s town hall meeting were Chief Financial Officer, Jonathan Spright and Group General Counsel & UK Company Secretary, Sarwar Zaman.

Jonathan briefly talked about our recent forecast and explained where we are year to date. During the THM, Sarwar’s purpose was to give us an introduction to legal at Colart.

The Q&A function was opened last THM, and we are happy to see that you are starting to use it.

We received one question for our Chief Financial Officer:

What impact has Brexit had on our financials if any?

    • Logistics – some delays early this year on goods movements from France to the UK, but not hearing this is still an issue – wider market conditions rather than Brexit drives higher freight costs.
    • Duties – we had some cover for duty increases in the 2021 Budget, but the Brexit deal concluded with zero duties, so we have a modest upside vs Budget.
    • Currency rate movements –there are many factors driving rate movements but Brexit clarity has impacted FX rates, this will be favourable in some of our markets and adverse in others.
